Due to increasing industrial activities and rapid population growth, air, water, and soil, which are the resources of life for humanity, are rapidly polluted. Environmental engineering gains importance in terms of detecting, preventing and eliminating the existing pollution.

Environmental Engineering is a profession that continues to develop by keeping up with new technologies in its field with its dynamic structure. Erciyes University Department of Environmental Engineering was established in 1999 in order to train environmental engineers needed by the industry in our country and our region and to provide the necessary support to the sector. In the 2006/2007 Academic Year, admission of undergraduate and graduate students started, and as of 2008, the doctoral program has been accepted. Our department offers a five-year education/training plan to the students it admits, with the first year being the preparatory class.

The Department of Environmental Engineering is a branch of engineering that uses the opportunities in science and technology to solve environmental problems, proposes solutions and implements them. Its main topics are water and wastewater treatment, air pollution, solid wastes and their removal, and hazardous wastes.

Our department, which is directly related to environmental pollution and protection, will provide an applied education by cooperating with national and local educational and industrial organizations and local administrations in order to train environmental engineers who are experts in their field. In addition, it is among the goals of our department to conduct original research on the environmental problems of the country and the region and to publish these researches in national and international journals.
