Master's Degree

ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

They must have a bachelor's degree in the relevant field or in the fields determined by the administrative board of the institute with the recommendation of the department/art major. They must have the ALES standard score to be determined by the Senate provided that it is not less than 55 standard points from the score type of the program applied for ALES, made centrally by OSYM, or they must have an equivalent score from an exam accepted as equivalent to ALES by the Interuniversity Board. Foreign students who graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Türkiye, need a valid ALES certificate, and foreign students who graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program abroad, need a Turkish proficiency certificate from TOMER and a certificate of equivalence of the diploma, accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Those who do not have a Turkish proficiency certificate from TÖMER have preparatory education at ERÜ TÖMER after the admission and registration processes and can start Master's Degree after obtaining a Turkish proficiency certificate. Applications are evaluated by the administrative board of the institute according to the following principles and successful candidates are determined by taking into account the quotas announced.

a) In applications, all grades of the candidate to be evaluated are converted into an evaluation out of 100. In the calculation of transformation from a different system into a 100-point grading system in those whose graduation grade-point averages are in a different system in their diplomas (4.00, 3.00 grading systems etc.) along with a 100-point system and only those in different system (4.00, 3.00 grading systems etc.), 100-point grading system transformation table of the Council of Higher Education is taken as a basis.

b)  In the evaluation of student admission to master's programs with thesis, 50% of the ALES score, 30% of the undergraduate grade point average and 20% of the foreign language score are taken if there is no interview in the entrance exam. In the departments where an interview exam is held, 50% of the ALES score, 15% of the undergraduate grade point average, 15% of the foreign language score and 20% of the interview exam are taken. The total score must be at least 50. For candidates who do not have a foreign language certificate from YDS or an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board, the foreign language score is calculated as zero. Candidates above 50 points are placed in the relevant programs according to the quotas announced in an order from the highest score. In case of the equality of scores, the candidate with a high ALES score is preferred. The candidate who does not take the interview exam is considered unsuccessful.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students enrolled in the program must take at least 120 and at most 180 ECTS. They must take courses equivalent to 60 ECTS, including at least 7 courses (one of these courses is a course that includes scientific research techniques and research and publication ethics) and one seminar course and must be successful in these courses. At most two of the courses to be taken by the student in the Master's Degree Program can also be selected from the undergraduate or Master’s Degree courses offered in other higher education institutions, provided that they have not been taken during the undergraduate education. Students who successfully defend their thesis in a field related to their subject in front of a selected jury are awarded a Master's Degree in the field of ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING.
